AhlulBayt News Agency: Yemenis have staged new protests in the capital Sana’a and other provinces across the country in solidarity with Palestinians suffering under Israel’s ongoing war in Gaza.
On Friday, large crowds gathered in Al-Sabeen Square in Sana’a under the slogan “With Gaza to confront the crime of genocide and starvation.” Protesters carried Yemeni and Palestinian flags, along with banners condemning Israeli actions against Palestinians.
A statement from the protest’s organizers emphasized that Palestinian resistance prevents the repetition of the Nakba in other countries. Nakba Day, commemorated annually on May 15, marks the forced expulsion of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in 1948 following Israel’s declaration of existence.
The demonstrators criticized Arab silence on Israeli crimes in Gaza and reaffirmed their support for Yemen’s military operations against Israel, including the recent missile attack on Ben Gurion International Airport.
The statement also condemned US President Donald Trump’s recent visit to West Asia, including Saudi Arabia and the UAE, describing him as Israel’s “primary partner” in its actions.
Similar protests took place in 14 provinces across Yemen, including Sa’ada, as part of ongoing demonstrations held almost weekly in support of Gaza and Yemen’s retaliatory operations.
Since Israel launched its war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, Yemeni forces have carried out numerous operations targeting Israeli positions and vessels heading toward occupied Palestinian ports.
Israel’s military campaign has resulted in the deaths of at least 53,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children.
